dangerous method movie trailer

David Cronenberg is not necessarily the first director, who hopes to make a film about the war of wills between two pioneers of 19th century psychoanalysts, but on reflection, the idea begins to make sense. Cronenberg's films have always been disturbed many people, so of course not only know the work of Sigmund Freud and Carl Jung, but eventually become fascinated with the defects and deficiencies of the same men. The resulting film, "a dangerous method," now in limited release by Sony Pictures Classics, wonders what happens when two men undertook to cure humanity of his mental illness to comply with the destructive forces in themselves. Michael Fassbender plays Jung, idealistic Austrian heir to the legacy of Freud, which gradually becomes familiar with - and, at least temporarily possessed by - the dark side.

Freud, portrayed with an air of ironic humor, which then "Lord of the Rings' Viggo Mortensen swordsman, is vain, impatient mentor evolving over time a rival disapproving. dangerous method movie trailer

Mortensen spoke with last week about his ongoing collaboration with Cronenberg (this is his third collaboration), frustration with the Oscar for "popularity contest" and his initial reluctance to play a talkative old Jewish quarter shrink. Here are some aspects highlights of our conversation.

Were you surprised when Cronenberg called me and said, "I want to make a film about Freud?"

It did not surprise me. What surprised me was he thought I was the actor the right to Freud. I really had to think about it. In many ways it was the biggest stretch I had as an actor in movies. Over a stretch in a way in "Eastern Promises." Making role, with the help of David, made me feel more confident playing characters who are much more detailed. Now, I realize that I can do. I accepted the challenge because I trusted David. The last thing he wants to do is flop films when there is someone like me who is his friend. He thought I could do it and not let go of the idea, so I thought there must be something. dangerous method movie trailer

Have you heard other people that this type of role would not be good for you? Or are you just assumed that it was not for you?

I just had not done anything similar. I had not played a character who has so much. And on the surface, look at the script, I thought I had preconceived ideas about what seems very serious, dry, old, white-haired Jewish science. I thought, "This is not me." Physically, I'm more of an Aryan to begin with. But when I understood more about his ironic tone and spirit, when I began to discover how appetite for life, it actually took, I started thinking, "Well, maybe there is a way in."

Do you feel that you and Michael Fassbender work in the same tradition? What could somehow be the heir to the style I do?

As an actor? I do not know, I had not thought of that. That is, we get along. He has a good sense of humor was very good and easy to work with him. He was well prepared. I think we have a slightly different approach, at least in this film. His work is based on finding a sort of rhythm or music in the text. I think the way to work is somewhat more Kiera like mine - you know, do a tremendous amount of research in all kinds of things you might think they are very peripheral.
