The Vampire Diaries is an American television series developed by Kevin Williamson and Julie Plec, based on the book series of the same name written by LJ Smith. The series follows the events in the town of Mystic Falls, Virginia, a fictional small town haunted by supernatural beings. The main objective of the series is the love triangle between Elena Gilbert leading lady (Nina Dobrev) and two vampire brothers with a dark past. Later, the light is shed on the mysterious past of the city by Catherine Elena evil lookalike who seeks revenge against the town, the brothers and Elena.
