Gears of War 3 will be a public beta early next year, Epic Games unveiled at an event this week in the studio.

This is the first Gears of War will begin a public beta. Rod Fergusson of Epic Games' he told the press gathered that the team has always wanted to do a public beta, but only if they can then use this feedback to improve the title.

Now that Gears of War 3 launch was postponed from April until the autumn of 2011, the team believes he will be able to do exactly that.

No word yet on when next year's multiplayer beta will be affected.
