An Android game, which do not appear to have a glimpse of 'sin' anything, it has capabilities beyond expectation. The application could be a spy to track location of cell phone.
The existence of a malicious program is behind Android game presented by Mikko Hypponen, Chief Research Officer at F-Secure, in official blog of F-Secure which is quoted by deykINET on Wednesday (18/08/2010). "A game called Tap Snake was not the only game, this is a client for application of a spy named GPS Spy," wrote Mikko.
On surface, game Snake Tap is game 'snake' in general. But beyond that, Tap Snake running in background and continue to be active despite not being played. Every 15 minutes, the game will report the GPS location of cell phone to server.
GPS Spy, according to Mikko, is a paid spy service with subscription fees of USD 4.99 (about Rp 45000). Once downloaded, this application will prompt users to install Tap Snake game on phones that would spied upon.
Spy GPS users must have physical access to the phone who wants spied upon. It was necessary to enter the game code that allows spy access to a mobile phone which became a target. Thus, Tap Snake difficult to use to spy remotely without active role of mobile users who become a target.
Mikko estimates that Google will soon revoke Tap Snake from Android Market. In fact, Google is expected to shut down the application from the center so there is no Android phone installer.
